The AD8309-EVALZ is an evaluation board designed to allow easy evaluation of all features of AD8309 logarithmic amplifier. The AD8309 is a complete IF limiting amplifier, providing both an accurate logarithmic (decibel) measure of the input signal (the RSSI function) over a dynamic range of 100dB and a programmable limiter output useful from 5MHz to 500MHz. This logarithmic amplifier is based on the successive detection technique. It provides a dynamic range of 100dB with an accuracy of ±0.4dB over the central 80dB and operates up to 500MHz. The logarithmic output is proportional to the logarithm of the input signal, providing a 0.4V to 2.5V DC signal over the 100dB input range. A limiter output is also provided which amplifies the input signal by 100dB, providing a stable limited output with a maximum of ±100ps phase skew. This limiter output is useful for demodulating FSK and PSK modulated signals.
