The MAX664CSA+ is a dual mode 5V/programmable micropower voltage regulator in 8 pin NSOIC package. It can be used as either 5V fixed output regulator with no additional components or can be adjusted from 1.3V to 16V using two external resistors. Fixed or adjustable operation is automatically selected via the VSET input. It is ideally suitable for battery-powered systems, has an input voltage range from 2V to 16.5V, an output current capability of 40mA and can operate with low input-output differentials. Other features include current limiting and low power shutdown. This negative regulator is pin and electrically compatible with the ICL7664 and can plug-in replace this device, improving performance and eliminating the need for external resistance in 5V application. This is used in remote data acquisition and telemetry, radio controlled devices, long life battery-powered systems and LCD display systems.
