The MCP4461-103E/ST is a Digital Potentiometer with non-volatile memory. It is compatible with the Philips I2C specification. The SCL pin is the serial interfaces serial clock pin. It comes with the resistor ladder, it is a series of equal value resistors (RS) with a connection point (tap) between the two resistors. The total number of resistors in the series (ladder) determines the RAB resistance. The end points of the resistor ladder are connected to analogue switches which are connected to the device terminal A and terminal B pins. The RAB (and RS) resistance has small variations over-voltage and temperature. The MCP44XX device's WiperLock technology allows application-specific calibration settings to be secured in the EEPROM without requiring the use of an additional write-protect pin. There are four WiperLock technology configuration bits (WL0/WL1/WL2/WL3). These bits prevent the Non-volatile and Volatile addresses and bits for the specified resistor network from being written.
